Our Services

Lube & Scheduled Service

The services that are most often neglected by drivers are also some of the easiest to take care of. The expensive, sophisticated engines in today’s vehicles can be utterly destroyed by improper care of fluids. Fluid maintenance services are a MK Auto Care speciality.

True : Advances in automotive technology have resulted in vehicles that are better built and longer lasting; but no matter what the dealer’s commercial may promise, they are not maintenance-free and parts do wear down. To ensure peak performance and that you get years of trouble-free driving, your manufacturer has developed recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle, which is outlined in your owner’s manual.

When should my car have Scheduled Maintenance?

There are two types of maintenance services - minor and major. Minor services are generally performed at every 5000 or 10,000 kms while major services are performed at 20,000, 40,000 and 60,000 kms intervals.

DIAGNOSIS

What makes a warning light come on?

Today’s vehicles are manufactured with complex inter-related systems. On-board computers continuously monitor and store information concerning the performance of these systems. A warning light comes on because the computer has sensed a signal from one of the systems or components that has gone outside of its normal operating range. The computer then sends a signal to turn on the light to let you know something is wrong!

How can MK Auto Care “diagnose problem?

MK Auto Care have the tools, training and technology to handle diagnostic issues, such as a Check Engine lighty. Property performing a complete diagnostic procedure normally includes the following steps:

  1. RETRIEVE DATA- A full functioning scan tool is used to perform an onboard computer system analysis in order to retrieve the following:

    • Computer codes
    • Freeze frame date
    • Computer software version numbers
    • Critical sensor data and status information

NOTE: Merely "pulling codes" does not generally provide enough information to make an accurate diagnosis of the problem. Pulling codes is the initial step in the process by identifying the circuit or system that has Illuminated the vehicle’s check engine light.

  2. VERIFICATION TESTING - Verification tests determine if systems meet proper specifications. These tests may include an analysis of :

    • Engine vacuum and backpressure
    • Mechanical and electrical engine timing
    • Ignition system
    • fuel system
    • Emissions system
    • Electrical System
  3. VERIFY REPAIR - Once all necessary actions have been taken the vehicle must be retested to verify that the repairs is complete and has achieved the proper results.

How long will it take to diagnose my problem?

In most cases, we can actually find and fix the problem in the same day.

TUNE UP

TUNE UP is still a relevant service. When your car is properly tuned, the ignittion sytem, fuel system, emission system and computer system are all working together. This results in peak combustion chamber efficiency, saving you money at the gas pump and making sure your car is emitting a minimum amount of pollutants.

How do we tell if vehicle needs a Tune Up?

Tune up intervals vary by vehicle. Many people assume a tune up will solve a drive ability problem. That’s not always the case. Our experts perform a tune up verification to confirm that your car will benefit from a tune up. Your problem may be unrelated to a tune up and may need an engine diagnosis.

Whatr does a MK Auto Care tune Up include?

  • Tune-Up verification
  • Replacement of spark plugs/fuel filter/Injector Inspection
  • Analysis of emission levels
  • Timing/idle speed adjustment (if adjustable)
  • Complete maintence inspection

While the entire braking system requires attention, the friction materials - the pads, shoes, rotors and drums - require constant attention because they wear down each time you apply your brakes.

How can I tell when my brakes need servicing?

  • The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.
  • You hear a squealing or other unusual noise when you apply lthe brakes. Some brands of brake pads have a built-in device that produces a high-pitched squeal when the brake pads are wearing thin.

AIR CONDITIONING

When should my auto air conditioning system be checked?

Each year prior to the warm weather months - or - any time it isn’t working to your satisfaction, bring it in for an A/C System Check.

What is included in the Auto Air Conditioning System Service?

  • A/C Performance System check
  • A/C System Inspection

Are there environmental concerns with Air Conditioning?

Because the refrigerant used in some air conditioning systems is considered harmful to the environment, it is important that it not be allowed to escape during servicing. We begin each air conditioning service with a leak detection test. Our technicians use a sealed, environmentally friendly process that captures the refrigerant, cleans it, replenishes it and returns it to your vehicle’s air conditioning system good as new.

What if my vehicle still uses Freon?

Auto air conditioning systems built before 1995 use the refrigerant R-12 or (CFC -12), also referred to as Freon. The EPA determined that Freon was destroying the ozone layer and in 1995, all production ceased. Freon is now extremely expensive and difficult to find. MKAC offers a retrofit service that enables your A/C system to use the inexpensive R-134 a refrigerant. the retrofit pays for itself in the cost savings on the refrigerant.

What does the retrofit service include?

All retrofits are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Different vehicles may require slightly different procedures. We evacuate all R-12 and most of the existing refrigerant oils from the air conditioning system. In some instances, certain parts, such as the 0-rings, hoses, accumulator or receiver/dryer, must be replaced to assure compatibility with R-134a.

In addition, special fittings and labels must be placed on the vehicle to properly identify that it has been retrofitted. This is required by law and is a mandatory part of any air conditioning retrofit procedure.

As with all services you receive at MK Auto Care, the parts we install will meet or exceed the original equipment manufacturers specifications, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.

This service, like all services performed at MK Auto Care, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
